The Seychelles Tourism Academy (STA) has started the New Year with a strong focus on the training program of its lecturers.
This is in line with the Seychelles Tourism Academy’s strategy to further empower its lecturers, and more importantly, to strengthen and enhance its lecturing force with higher levels of trained professionals of exceptional quality.
The academy has announced that four of its lecturers, namely Fadette Julienne, Christina Micock, Julie Carobert, and Rania Bastienne, will soon be going on work attachment in Mauritius.
Two of the lecturers, Mrs. Julienne and Mrs. Micock, both specializing in the teaching of wellness and spa, will be on two weeks of work attachment at the Luxury Shanti Maurice Hotel and Spa. Their attachment comes as part of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed last month between NIRA Hotel group and the Seychelles Tourism Academy.
Shanti Maurice Hotel and Spa, which belongs to the NIRA Hotel group, is the biggest Spa Hotel in the Indian Ocean and Africa, with 25 spa units.
The third lecturer, Ms. Carobert who specializes in the teaching of reception operations and service, will be based full-time at the Constance Academy for one month to specialize in the teacher training, while Mrs. Bastienne, who is a food production and pastry lecturer, will undergo two months of training at the Constance Bell Mare Plage Hotel to specialize in fine cuisine and fine pastries.
The Principal of Seychelles Tourism Academy, Flavien Joubert, has said the academy is this year starting very early with its training program for lecturers.
“The academy remains committed towards the training of its lecturers, and hopes to provide greater training opportunities for its lecturer this year,” said Mr. Joubert.
It is to be noted that a group of management students of the Seychelles Tourism Academy left the country on January 14 to attend the two-month work attachment at the Constance Academy and Bell Mare Plage Hotel in Mauritius.
The group, which makes up 10 students in total, is part of the Shannon College Hotel Management Program, whereby they undertake three years of study in Seychelles before proceeding to a fourth year at Shannon College in Ireland to complete their Bachelor’s degree in Hotel Management.
Their attachment is through the MOU signed four years ago between the Constance Academy and Hotels and the Seychelles Tourism Academy.
This is the Seychelles Tourism Academy’s third group of management students to follow the two-month work attachment at the Constance Academy and Belle Mare Plage Hotel.
The group will be accompanied by the Seychelles Tourism Academy Student Affairs Coordinator, Moniqe Hoareau, to ensure the induction and smooth settling down of the students.
